NVIDIA plans to launch the GeForce RTX 5000 SUPER series as refreshed models of the current RTX 5000 lineup between late 2025 and 2026. Recent leaks reveal key specifications and details about the fate of some existing RTX 5000 models, shedding light on what gamers can expect from this upgraded series.

GeForce RTX 5080 SUPER

The RTX 5080 SUPER is expected to retain the same 10,752 CUDA cores as its predecessor but will upgrade to 24GB of GDDR7 memory using 3GB modules. It will also feature higher clock speeds, boosting its performance by an estimated 9-16% over the current RTX 5080. Power consumption will increase substantially from 360W to approximately 415W. Pricing is projected at $999 to $1199, positioning it as a cost-effective alternative to the RTX 5080 given its enhanced performance. Some speculate it could even achieve gaming performance comparable to the RTX 4090.

GeForce RTX 5070 Ti SUPER

The RTX 5070 Ti SUPER will maintain the same 8,960 CUDA cores as the current model but will benefit from an expanded 24GB VRAM capacity. With a power draw rising from 300W to 350W, this model is anticipated to deliver a 7-11% performance uplift. Its gaming performance is expected to fall between the RTX 4080 SUPER and RTX 5080. Pricing is expected to remain stable at $749 to $799. Similar to the RTX 5080 SUPER, NVIDIA plans to cease production of the current RTX 5070 Ti before the SUPER model launches.

GeForce RTX 5070 SUPER

The RTX 5070 SUPER is the only model among the new SUPER lineup to see an increase in CUDA cores, growing from 6,144 to 6,400. It will also receive a VRAM upgrade to 18GB. This should boost performance by 8-12%, approaching the capability of the RTX 3090 Ti.

Production and Market Impact

NVIDIA plans to halt production of the RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti models by October 2025 ahead of the SUPER series launch. Production limits and the desire to avoid internal price competition are likely reasons for this move. The RTX 5000 SUPER series is expected to provide decent performance improvements alongside a return to launch MSRP pricing. However, with RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Ti production ending, shortages of high-end GPUs may occur toward the end of the year.

Gamers considering the current RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 Ti, especially those satisfied with 16GB VRAM, might want to act quickly before availability dwindles.

This leak sets the stage for an exciting refresh of NVIDIA’s RTX 5000 series with improvements in memory, speed, and gaming performance, but also signals an upcoming supply crunch late in 2025.
