PC Gaming Weekly - Halo for PC
Thursday, August 01, 2019
I’ve been waiting for this news for years: more Halo shooters are coming to the PC.
Back in 2015, Microsoft started talking about how Windows and Xbox Live would become more integrated. Ever since, we’ve seen the two come together to build one heck of a platform. Xbox Game Pass on PC. Modding coming to Xbox. And now, we’ve got a bevy of Halo games on Steam and the Windows store:
- Halo
- Halo 2
- Halo 3
- Halo 3: ODST
- Halo 4
- Halo: Reach
Halo is a landmark series for bringing the feel of a PC first-person shooter to consoles. Microsoft has been a good shepherd of it as well: It hasn’t watered down the narratives, nor has it turned its players into an ATM. And we haven’t had the opportunity to enjoy a Halo shooter on PC since the second one hit Windows Vista (now, there’s a name I haven’t heard in a long time. A long time) in 2007.
Microsoft is making a number of smart, player-friendly decisions. Game Pass is making it easier for people to play a variety of games, all without needing to go to a GameStop. Heck, we’ve even seen rumors of Microsoft bringing Xbox Game Pass to Nintendo’s Switch and releasing a discless Xbox One system. Microsoft has been adding plenty of games to its library with expanded backward compatibility.
And it’s even helping mods come to consoles.
