Four new Snapdragon mobile platforms: Accessible global 5G and 4G adoption

Today, Qualcomm is announcing four new powerful Snapdragon mobile platforms aimed at driving global 5G adoption and supporting existing 4G networks. Three new 5G mobile platforms — the Snapdragon 778G+, Snapdragon 695, and Snapdragon 480+ — join the new Snapdragon 680 4G platform for enhanced mobile experiences across a wide range of smartphones and devices.

Growth in 5G and 5G-enabled devices has been astronomical over the last two years, with global accessibility now reaching over 3.5 billion people. With the semiconductor complexity involved in smartphone device manufacturing, these latest Snapdragon 5G solutions offer a complete end-to-end implementation for mobile OEMs to free up resources and focus more on user experiences. This makes it easier and less time-consuming to develop 5G Snapdragon-enabled mobile devices, putting them in the hands of more people around the world faster than ever.

Consumers are, on average, spending more for both 5G and premium smartphones. That’s why we continue to drive innovative features and truly global 5G capabilities across our Snapdragon 7-, 6-, and 4-series.  We work to help our partners offer consumers more accessible ways to enjoy the amazing mobile experiences that 5G can offer. These efforts are resulting in excellent Snapdragon traction across smartphone price bands, with more devices and increased adoption seen across the Snapdragon 7-, 6-, and 4-series over the last year. Other trends shown in the Snapdragon 6-series highlight the continued strong demand for 5G devices, heavily driven in emerging markets by mid-tier 5G options.

The Snapdragon 778+, Snapdragon 695, and Snapdragon 480+ 5G mobile platforms demonstrate Qualcomm’s ongoing commitment to the proliferation of 5G. And the Snapdragon 680 4G mobile platform illustrates our dedication to supporting existing 4G networks as they also grow throughout global markets. There’s an incredibly diverse range of demand for 5G and 4G connectivity, and that’s why we’re developing mobile platforms to help people across the world connect, compute, and communicate in new and exciting ways.
