AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR3) Launched
Friday, September 29, 2023
Exciting news arrives today as AMD fulfills its promise of introducing FSR3, an advanced temporal upscaling technology. FSR3 incorporates Motion Fluid Frames, also referred to as Frame Generation technology, reminiscent of DLSS3.
The patch notes reveal that Frame Generation in FSR3 will be compatible with Radeon RX 5000, NVIDIA RTX 20, and Intel Arc A7 GPUs. While other GPU architectures will support the new upscaling components of FSR3, they will not include Frame Generation.
Square Enix has already identified the first known issue associated with FSR3, which involves a decrease in framerate on monitors with a refresh rate of 240Hz or higher. This problem seems to occur when both FSR3 FG and V-Sync are activated, and it is advisable to disable V-Sync in such situations.
The 30MB patch is now accessible on Steam, allowing immediate utilization of this technology for those whose hardware supports it. Since no early access was granted to the media, there will not be any day-one coverage with detailed information from them. We eagerly encourage you to share your experiences with FSR3 in the comments section and provide insights on its performance.
