NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti Officially Reach End-of-Life

In a significant development, NVIDIA has officially confirmed that both the GeForce RTX 4080 and RTX 4070 Ti models are reaching their end of life (EOL). These existing GPUs are being discontinued due to specific reasons.

  1. Lack of Gamer Interest: The RTX 4080 faced a notable challenge—the lack of interest from gamers. To address this, NVIDIA is retiring the RTX 4080, paving the way for its successor, the RTX 4080 SUPER. The new model promises improved speed and a lower price point.

  2. Brief Lifespan: The RTX 4070 Ti, in particular, has one of the shortest lifespans in GeForce history. Essentially replacing the unlaunched RTX 4080 12GB SKU, the RTX 4070 Ti retains the same core count but comes with a new name and a $100 reduced price.

Here’s a quick overview of the updated lineup:

  • GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB: Priced at $599, released on January 17, 2024.
  • GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB: Priced at $799, released on January 24, 2024.
  • GeForce RTX 4080 Super 16GB: Priced at $999, released on January 31, 2024.

Additionally, the RTX 4070 and RTX 4080 (both EOL) were previously available but have now been phased out.

NVIDIA’s decision aligns with market trends, slow sales, and the need to clear existing stock. Gamers can look forward to the enhanced performance of the new models while bidding farewell to the older ones.
