Intel’s Lunar Lake architecture is tentatively planned for release in late 2024 or early 2025. Designed with a mobile-first approach, it aims to strike a balance between performance and power efficiency.

Core Configuration

  • Lion Cove P Cores: Lunar Lake processors are expected to feature up to four high-performance Lion Cove P cores. These cores will handle demanding tasks and contribute to overall performance.
  • Skymont E Cores: Complementing the P cores, Lunar Lake will also include up to four energy-efficient Skymont E cores. These cores focus on power efficiency and help extend battery life.

Graphics Power

  • Arc Battlemage GPU Tile: Lunar Lake chips may be the first to incorporate an Arc Battlemage GPU tile. With up to 64 Xe2 execution units, this GPU promises improved graphics performance over previous generations. While details about Battlemage remain scarce, it’s expected to outperform the existing Arc Alchemist GPUs.

Manufacturing Process

  • Lunar Lake will be manufactured using Intel’s 18A (1.8nm) process. This advanced node aims to maximize performance while keeping power consumption in check.

Hyper-Threading and Multithreading

  • Leaked samples suggest that Lunar Lake processors will have an 8-core/8-thread configuration. Notably, these P cores may lack hyper-threading. However, the higher core count should still benefit workloads that rely on multi-threading.
