Hades 2 Surprise Launches into Early Access Today, Full Release Not Until At Least 2025

Anticipated roguelike sequel Hades 2 was announced back in 2022, and we knew an early access launch was coming sometime in mid-2024, but a specific release date hadn’t been provided by developer Supergiant Games. Well, surprise! Following some technical tests, Hades 2 officially launches into early access… today!

The early access version of Hades 2 is larger than the entirety of the original game, but there are still some things that the developers need to work out. As Supergiant Games has mentioned before, they designed Hades 2 for Early Access from the ground up, and they look forward to hearing feedback from players about all that they’ve built so far. This feedback will help them improve various aspects of the game, from balance to narrative.

What Is Hades 2?

Hades 2 is a rogue-like dungeon crawler set in the Underworld of Greek myth. As the immortal Princess of the Underworld, players will battle using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. The game builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original, offering an all-new, action-packed, and endlessly replayable experience rooted in Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

In Hades II, players will explore a bigger, deeper mythic world, vanquishing the Titan’s forces with the full might of Olympus behind them. The story unfolds through every setback and accomplishment, and new locations, challenges, upgrade systems, and surprises await as players delve into the ever-shifting Underworld again and again.

Should You Play in Early Access?

For many players, waiting for the complete v1.0 before diving in might be a good idea. Hades 2 will continue to grow and improve during Early Access, and the true ending of the story won’t be available until then. However, if you enjoy seeing a game evolve over time and watching the story unfold gradually, Early Access is probably for you.
