How to Turn On Noise Cancellation for AirPods

Bluetooth headphones like AirPods allow you to listen to audio without being tethered to your device. Noise cancellation is a handy feature that lets you block out unwanted background sounds and focus on what you want to hear. Here are three ways to activate noise cancellation on your AirPods Pro:

  1. Settings Method:

    • Take at least one AirPod out of the case to connect it to your phone (no need to place it in your ear).
    • Open Settings.
    • Click on your AirPod name (located below your iCloud profile).
    • Scroll down to the NOISE CONTROL section.
    • Choose your noise cancellation level:
      • “Noise Cancellation”
      • “Off”
      • Transparency
  2. Bluetooth Method:

    • Follow the same steps as above to connect an AirPod to your phone.
    • Go to Settings > Bluetooth.
    • Select the circled “i” icon next to your AirPods.
    • Scroll down to the NOISE CONTROL section.
    • Choose your noise cancellation level.
  3. Control Center Method:

    • Place at least one AirPod in your ear.
    • Swipe down from the top right of your screen to access the Control Center.
    • Click and hold the volume/sound control slider until it expands and fills the screen.
    • Tap the “Noise Control Transparency” icon on the bottom left.
    • Select your noise cancellation level.
  4. Sensor Method (for AirPods Pro):

    • Place at least one AirPod Pro in your ear.
    • Hold the sensor located on the outside of the AirPod until you hear a chime.
