Vince Lucido, better known by his moniker “Kingpin,” has left his mark on the hardware and tech community. His contributions to the PC Master Race have been significant, particularly during his tenure with EVGA. The EVGA KINGPIN series of motherboards and graphics cards, celebrated for their intense overclocking capabilities and innovative cooling solutions, reached the pinnacle of performance. However, with EVGA’s departure from the GPU segment, the KINGPIN series faced an uncertain future.

A New Chapter with PNY

Now, Kingpin has found a new home at PNY, a GPU manufacturer eager to explore extreme overclocking. In an interview with Gamers Nexus, he explained why he chose PNY over other competitors:

Gamers Nexus: When you think of your former competitors—MSI, ASUS, GALAX—what about the PNY team has excited you?

Kingpin: They are keen to dive into extreme overclocking. ASUS, MSI, and GALAX already engage in it, but there are too many cooks in the kitchen. I want to go somewhere where I can make a significant impact, and I believe PNY might be that kind of company.

The Enthusiast Market Gap

With EVGA’s absence, there’s a noticeable void in the enthusiast market. Overclocking gains have become marginal in recent years, as GPUs self-boost to high levels with standard coolers. However, Kingpin’s expertise could change that. He hinted at the possibility of a “PNY Kingpin” variant dropping this year, following the release of the RTX 50 series. While not confirmed, it’s an exciting prospect.

A Glimpse of the Future

PNY previously showcased a high-end 4+ slot graphics card, designed in collaboration with Cooler Master, at Computex 2023. Although initially a prototype based on the RTX 4090, it hinted at a true next-gen graphics card. Perhaps, as NVIDIA launches the RTX 5090, we’ll witness a revised version infused with Kingpin’s magic.
