7/21/2024AMD Radeon RX 7000 and RX 6000 GPUs Now Support Twitch’s Enhanced Broadcasting
AMD’s Radeon RX 7000 “RDNA 3” and RX 6000 “RDNA 2” GPUs now fully support Twitch’s Enhanced Broadcasting, offering streamers a new level of performance and flexibility.
Enhanced Broadcasting Expands Beyond NVIDIA
Initially showcased at CES 2024, Twitch’s Enhanced Broadcasting was designed to work seamlessly with OBS and major GPU manufacturers like AMD and NVIDIA. This feature allows streamers to create multiple versions of their stream at different resolutions, utilizing the GPU’s dedicated encoder resources. Viewers then receive the best possible resolution based on their internet quality.
System Requirements for Enhanced Broadcasting
To leverage this feature, users need the following:
- GPU and Driver Version: NVIDIA GeForce 900-series or newer with driver 545.92 or newer, AMD Radeon RX 6000/7000 Series with Adrenalin 24.4.1 or newer
- Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11
- Broadcast Software: OBS Studio v30.2 or newer, XSplit Broadcaster 4.5.2406.1801 or newer
Recommended Setup
For optimal performance, Twitch recommends:
- Display: 1920x1080 at 60fps
- Sustained Upstream Bandwidth: 12 Mbps
AMD’s Competitive Edge
While NVIDIA’s NVENC encoder has been a dominant force in video encoding, AMD’s inclusion in Enhanced Broadcasting is a significant step forward. Although currently limited to RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 GPUs, this support enhances the streaming experience for AMD users, making high-quality streaming more accessible.
This development is a promising advancement for AMD’s Radeon GPUs, ensuring a better streaming experience on Twitch.
