AMD Surpasses Intel in Brand Recognition, NVIDIA Ranks 6th in Brand Value Growth

AMD has taken the lead in brand recognition, surpassing Intel, while NVIDIA has experienced significant growth, according to Kantar’s BrandZ “Most Valuable Global Brands” report for 2024.

AMD’s Brand Recognition Triumphs Over Intel

In the competitive landscape of AI, AMD has emerged as a clear winner, particularly in professional sectors. The popularity of AMD’s Instinct lineup of AI accelerators among clients outshone Intel’s Gaudi series. Team Red’s effective capitalization on market hype and client trust played a crucial role. Additionally, AMD’s AI-focused consumer offerings, such as the Strix Point APUs, gained substantial market adoption. As a result, Kantar has positioned AMD above Intel in overall brand value.

The BrandZ Report: Insights into Brand Value

Kantar’s BrandZ report evaluates global brands based on customer sentiment and financial data. It reflects consumer perception and popularity. In the Business Technology and Services Platforms category, AMD made significant strides, reaching a brand value of $51.86 million. It’s essential to note that this value represents recognition rather than market capitalization.

AMD vs. Intel: The Numbers

AMD’s brand value increased by an impressive 53%, while Intel’s grew by 23% since 2023. Currently, AMD holds the 41st position, with Intel at 48th.

NVIDIA’s Remarkable Growth

NVIDIA, part of the “Top 10 Risers” this year, achieved a staggering 178% brand value growth. Alongside Instagram and Facebook, NVIDIA secured the 6th place. The top five brands by market value include Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and McDonald’s.

The Tight Battle and AMD’s Edge

While the report doesn’t fully reflect real-world dynamics, it highlights the fierce competition between AMD and Intel. For now, AMD holds a slight superiority. The company’s progress in the AI domain positions it well to capitalize on the markets. However, Intel’s upcoming platforms, like Lunar Lake, could alter these figures. Nevertheless, AMD has currently won the brand value race against Intel.
