How to Check Your PC RAM Speed
7/25/2024Let’s dive into how to check your RAM speed and why it matters.
Ensuring your PC’s RAM is running optimally is crucial for performance.
Here are three methods to check your RAM speed:
-
Using Task Manager (Windows 10 and 11):
- Press
Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or right-click the taskbar and select “Task Manager.” - Click the “Performance” tab, then choose “Memory.”
- Look at the bottom-right corner of the window to find your RAM speed (in Megahertz, MHz).
- Press
-
CPU-Z (Preferred by Gamers and Enthusiasts):
- Download and install CPU-Z from the official website.
- Open CPU-Z and click the “Memory” tab.
- Note that CPU-Z displays RAM at Single Data Rate (SDR). To get the actual speed (DDR), multiply the shown speed by two. For example, if CPU-Z shows 3000MHz, your RAM speed is 6000MHz.
- CPU-Z also provides details on RAM size and CAS Latency Timings.
-
Checking via BIOS (PC or Laptop):
- Restart your computer and enter the BIOS (usually by pressing F2 or Del during the splash screen).
- RAM speeds are typically shown on the first BIOS screen. Depending on your motherboard, the layout may vary.
- Avoid changing any settings in the BIOS to prevent affecting PC performance.
Remember, faster RAM speeds improve application loading times and multitasking. If you pay for it, use it! Plus, knowing your RAM speed helps when upgrading or adding more RAM. Give it a try—it’s easy and quick! 😊🚀
