Intel Arrow Lake-S Desktop CPUs: Unveiling the Core Ultra Lineup

Intel’s latest Arrow Lake-S “Core Ultra” desktop CPUs are set to revolutionize the market with their impressive core configurations. The lineup includes the Core Ultra 9 with up to 24 cores, the Core Ultra 7 with 20 cores, and the Core Ultra 5 featuring up to 14 cores.

Key Configurations and Features

The Arrow Lake-S “Core Ultra 200” series is built on two primary die configurations: the 8+16 “B0” and the 6+8 “C0”. These configurations offer up to 8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores, along with up to 4 Xe cores for integrated graphics.

  • Core Ultra 9: Features an 8+16 configuration with 4 Xe cores, totaling 24 cores and 24 threads. Available in 125W “K”, 65W “Non-K”, and 35W “T” variants.
  • Core Ultra 7: Utilizes the same 8+16 “B0” die but adopts an 8+12 configuration. It comes in two variants, one with 4 Xe cores and one without (denoted as “F” variant).
  • Core Ultra 5: Offers several configurations derived from both “B0” and “C0” dies, with up to 14 cores and 14 threads. The 125W unlocked CPUs feature 6 P-Cores, 8 E-Cores, and 4 Xe cores.

Detailed Specifications

The 65W Intel Core Ultra 5 stack includes multiple configurations such as 6+8 (4Xe), 6+8 (3Xe), 6+8 (0Xe), 6+4 (0Xe), and 6+4 (2Xe). The 35W family is similar but excludes the 6+8 (0Xe) SKU.

Cache Configurations:

  • Top Die: 24 MB of L3 cache for 8 P-Cores and 12 MB for four E-Core clusters, totaling 36 MB of L3 cache.
  • L2 Cache: 24 MB for 8 P-Cores and 16 MB for E-Cores, giving a combined 40 MB of L2 cache.

This results in a combined 76 MB cache pool, which is 12% more than the Raptor Lake-S/HX CPUs.

Comparison with Raptor Lake-S

The Arrow Lake-S CPUs offer significant improvements over the Raptor Lake-S series, with enhanced cache configurations and core counts. The new CPUs will be compatible with the LGA 1851 socket and are expected to launch alongside the Z890 motherboards in October.

Preliminary Lineup

  • Core Ultra 9 285K: 24 cores/24 threads, up to 5.7 GHz, 36 MB L3 cache, 125W TDP.
  • Core Ultra 7 265K: 20 cores/20 threads, 33 MB L3 cache, 125W TDP.
  • Core Ultra 5 245K: 14 cores/14 threads, 24 MB L3 cache, 125W TDP.

Intel’s Arrow Lake-S CPUs are poised to deliver exceptional performance and efficiency, making them a compelling choice for high-end desktops and laptops.
