Undeterred, Intel persisted, recruiting AMD’s Raja Koduri in 2017 to lead the development of the Xe architecture. Fast forward to 2022, and we saw the Arc 3 series (“Alchemist”) for notebooks and the Arc A770/750 for desktops, both manufactured by TSMC on the 6nm process. Yet, Intel struggled to make a dent in a market dominated by its rivals.

Enter the “Battlemage”

Intel’s latest flagship GPUs, codenamed “Battlemage,” promise to change the game. These GPUs, featuring the highest-end BMG-G31 variant with 32 Xe2 cores, are manufactured using TSMC’s cutting-edge 4nm process.
