Lord Of The Rings in Unreal Engine 5

 

A photorealistic re-imagining of Lord Of The Rings in Unreal Engine, hardware ray tracing. Powered heavily by Lumen and Nanite. I made this in 6 days from start to finish, starting with the base "First person player" template on UE5. 

Everything is running at real time, and the boats are floating in a water simulation rather than being animated!

The original concept formed from the prompt "What if the fellowship of the ring was a first person adventure game?" and then I ended up adding in a bunch of beauty shots because I was really happy with how the environment turned out!

I wanted to do a concept of the the player floating down the river looking at the Argonath pass by, after watching Leo Torres' amazing video on his jungle boat scene:    • Virtual Jungle River | UE5 [4K]   -- his stuff is incredible and definitely worth checking out. My goal was to try and make something close in fidelity to his!

It's super exciting what is in store for gaming and the graphics potential -- knowing something like this could absolutely be made into a video game some day!
