Moore Threads MTT S50 GPU

New Chinese Office GPU Doubles as Budget 1080p Gaming Solution: MTT S50

Moore Threads’ Latest GPU: MTT S50

Chinese GPU manufacturer Moore Threads has introduced the MTT S50, a mid-range addition to its S-series lineup. The S50 features 2,048 MUSA cores, 8GB of VRAM, and an 85W TGP, making it a versatile option for both office tasks and budget 1080p gaming.

Key Specifications:

  • Cores: 2,048 MUSA cores
  • Memory: 8GB VRAM
  • Memory Interface: 256-bit
  • Power Consumption: 85W TGP
  • Performance: 5.2 Teraflops FP32, 20.8 TOPS INT8

The S50 is positioned between the higher-end S60, S70, and S80 models and the lower-end S30 and S10 models. Despite similar specs to the S60, the S50 offers slightly less computing power, rated at 5.2 Teraflops of FP32 performance compared to the S60’s 6 Teraflops.

Gaming and Compatibility: Moore Threads advertises the S50’s excellent 1080p performance in lightweight titles like CS: GO and Dota 2, particularly on Linux. However, the company’s graphics drivers have been a significant drawback, impacting gaming performance compared to competitors like Nvidia and AMD.

Additional Features:

  • API Support: DirectX, Vulkan, OpenGL, OpenGL ES
  • Resolution Support: Up to 8K
  • Video Encoding/Decoding: AV1, H.265 (HEVC), H.264

The S50 is currently available for free trial to corporate consumers, with retail pricing yet to be announced.
