Snapdragon X Plus with 8 Cores Launches September 4th

Qualcomm is gearing up for a significant announcement at IFA 2024, set to begin next week. The company has scheduled a special press conference hosted by CEO Cristiano Amon to unveil a new addition to its Snapdragon X series for PCs. This new SKU, the Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100, will be the first 8-core Oryon-based processor in the series.

Targeting the Sub-$800 Laptop Segment

The Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 aims to capture the sub-$800 laptop market, a promise previously made by Amon. Despite its competitive pricing, this processor will feature reduced GPU performance, with maximum compute capabilities limited to 1.7 TFLOPS, a significant drop from the flagship X Elite SKU’s 4.6 TFLOPS.

Key Features and Performance

  • Processor: 8-core Oryon-based
  • GPU Performance: 1.7 TFLOPS
  • Display Support: Up to three external displays at 4K 60 Hz
  • AI Performance: 45 TOPS, consistent across all Snapdragon X processors
