🚀 An unreleased AMD Ryzen 7 9700X3D has been spotted in the Passmark database, signaling the arrival of a more affordable Zen 5 3D V-Cache processor that delivers performance nearly identical to the flagship Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
AMD is expected to launch multiple new 3D V-Cache equipped Ryzen 9000X3D series processors by the first half of 2026. An unannounced CPU, called the Ryzen 7 9700X3D, has now been registered in the Passmark benchmark database. The benchmark results indicate that this processor delivers performance almost on par with the current flagship Ryzen 7 9800X3D.
📊 Ryzen 7 9700X3D Benchmark Results Surface
The Ryzen 7 9700X3D listed in the Passmark database is an 8-core, 16-thread processor based on the Zen 5 architecture. Its basic specifications are expected to be the same as the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, with 8MB of L2 cache and 96MB of L3 cache (combining 32MB from the CCD and 64MB of 3D V-Cache), totaling 104MB of cache on the CPU package.
Performance Virtually Unchanged from the 9800X3D
Looking at the Passmark benchmark scores, the Ryzen 7 9700X3D recorded 40,438 points in multi-threaded tests and 4,687 points in single-threaded tests.
In comparison, the current Ryzen 7 9800X3D scores 39,982 points in multi-threaded and 4,427 points in single-threaded tests, making the scores of both CPUs nearly identical.
On Passmark, the Ryzen 7 9700X3D's operating clock is listed at 5.8 GHz, which is significantly higher than the 5.2 GHz of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, this value was likely recorded in an overclocked benchmarking environment. The official clock speed is expected to be set lower than the 9800X3D, possibly around 5.0 GHz.
Even so, the performance itself is not expected to lag far behind the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, making it a highly anticipated CPU in terms of cost-performance.

While detailed information on the release timing of the Ryzen 7 9700X3D is not yet available, considering the possibility that new products like the Ryzen 9 9950X3D and Ryzen 7 9850X3D will be announced at CES 2026, the Ryzen 7 9700X3D is also expected to be announced around the same time. A launch within the first quarter of 2026 is anticipated.
As its model name suggests, it will be a lower-tier model than the Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Given that the current Ryzen 7 9800X3D launched at 86,000 yen (approx. $560 USD), it is believed the 9700X3D will launch at around 79,000 yen (approx. $515 USD). However, after the initial launch period, its street price will certainly fall below the current 73,000 yen (approx. $475 USD) of the 9800X3D. By spring 2026, it could potentially be purchased in the late 60,000 yen range (approx. $430 USD).
AMD currently sells three models with 3D V-Cache: the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Ryzen 9 9900X3D, and Ryzen 9 9950X3D. With the addition of the most affordable model, the Ryzen 7 9700X3D, to the lineup, AMD's CPU share in the gaming market is expected to expand even further.
