Titan Quest 2 Update: Unleashing the Forge Mastery and Ancient Relics

Titan Quest 2 Update: Unleashing the Forge Mastery and Ancient Relics

The latest Early Access update for Titan Quest II has arrived, introducing a revolutionary new playstyle through the Forge Mastery and a deep item-customization system featuring Relics & Charms.

1. The Forge Mastery: Hephaestus’ Legacy

Inspired by the Greek god of fire and smithing, the Forge Mastery shifts the focus away from direct player attacks and toward mechanical brilliance. Instead of swinging a sword, you become a battlefield architect, utilizing "Divine Cores" harvested from fallen foes to power inventions and temporary gear enhancements.

Core Mechanics & Abilities:

  • Tactical Turrets: Summon mechanical devices that hold the line. These can be infused with elements from other masteries, such as Storm, to deal frost or lightning damage.
  • Ironclad Form: A heavy defensive stance that grants massive damage absorption and retaliation options, such as reflecting damage or launching armor shards.
  • Tempered Arsenal & Forge Field: High-level auras and area-of-effect fields that buff allies while debilitating enemies trapped within your setup.
  • Strategic Chains: Use mechanical chains to pull enemies directly into your turret kill-zones.

The Synergy Factor: Forge is designed to be paired. While the Forge Mastery lacks mobility, players can compensate by using the Storm Mastery's Blink. A popular build involves using Ice Nova to freeze enemies in place while Forge turrets shred them with elemental-infused fire.

2. Relics & Charms: Customizing Your Legend

The update also introduces a modular affix system. Players can now collect shards to enhance their gear. These fragments come in two distinct flavors:

Charms: Dropped by specific creature types. These provide thematic bonuses based on the monster they were taken from.
Relics: Rarer and significantly more powerful, offering game-changing "Completion Bonuses" when fully assembled.

The Power of Completion

Finding three shards of the same type allows you to merge them, unlocking a powerful completion bonus. The update launches with 20 Charms and 19 Relics, including:

  • Zeus’s Thunderbolt (Relic): A high-voltage upgrade that boosts attack/cast speed and lightning damage, with a rare chance to instantly kill non-boss enemies on the first strike.
  • Hestia’s Cinders (Relic): The ultimate fire-starter kit. It buffs DOT, fire, and burning damage while allowing for higher stacks of burning on enemies.
  • Borehide Charm: A defensive staple that provides Might and crucial resistances to pierce, bleeding, and summons.

Progression and Limits

As your character grows, you can equip more of these shards. While there is no hard cap on how many Charms you can utilize across your gear, players are limited to a maximum of three Relics at any given time to prevent over-powering. Grimlore Games has confirmed that many more variations will be added throughout the Early Access period.
