Don’t Look Back: Stormbridge Brings Roguelite Chaos to City Building

Most city builders encourage you to settle down and perfect your layout. Stormbridge, the latest title from solo developer YYZ (Singapore), encourages you to run for your life. Launching today on Steam and GOG, it is a frantic, charming, and highly addictive blend of Against the Storm and Havendock.
The Mechanics of the "Moving City"
In Stormbridge, you are building a community on a bridge that stretches infinitely across various biomes—from frozen tundras to floating sky-islands. As you build homes, farms, and production chains, your bridge grows longer.
However, a Relentless Storm is always closing in from the left. Once the storm reaches a tile, any buildings on it are obliterated. This forces a fascinating "disposable architecture" strategy: you must decide which high-value buildings to protect with Shield Domes and which to abandon to the winds.
Settlers & Specialized Roles
Your bridge is nothing without its people. Settlers are your primary resource, and in the 2026 launch version, you can now assign them specialized roles:
- Engineers: Speed up bridge expansion and repair damaged shields.
- Scientists: Generate research points to unlock Turrets to fire back at storm-threats (like fiery tornadoes).
- Farmers: Essential for keeping your population fed as you transition between biomes.
Meta-Progression: The Home Island
The "roguelite" side of Stormbridge shines between runs. You retreat to a Home Island—a peaceful, storm-free hub where you can use the resources earned during your bridge runs to build a permanent home, unlock new building blueprints, and customize your character.
You can also recruit **Animal Companions** (ranging from dogs to unicorns) that provide unique buffs, such as resource-sniffing or storm-slowdown abilities, which carry over into your next attempt.
System Requirements
True to YYZ Studio’s style, Stormbridge is incredibly accessible. It requires only 1GB of storage and can run comfortably on a GTX 1070 or equivalent, making it an ideal title for Steam Deck owners looking for a deep strategy fix on the go.
