RE Requiem Final Boss Guide: How to Defeat Victor Gideon
Saturday, February 28, 2026The Ultimate Showdown: Ending the Ashford Curse
You’ve survived the halls of the Ashford Estate, navigated the ruins of Raccoon City, and descended into the heart of the ARK facility. Now, only one thing stands between you and the credits: Victor Gideon.

In true Resident Evil fashion, the final encounter is a multi-stage test of your resource management and parry skills. If you chose to "Release Elpis" (the canon choice), prepare for a fight that mirrors the legendary Nemesis encounters of 1999. Here is how to take down Victor Gideon once and for all.
Phase 1: The Humanoid Terror
In his first form, Victor adopts a stance similar to the classic Nemesis. He is fast, aggressive, and uses elongated tentacle lashes to catch you at mid-range.
The Strategy: Keep your distance and focus on his red shoulder growths.
The Parry: When Victor raises his right tentacle, wait for the split-second shimmer to parry with Leon’s Hatchet. A successful parry staggers him for 3 seconds.
The Electric AOE: When Victor jumps to the edge of the arena, look at the floor. Avoid the glowing lines. He is about to electrify the ground, which will stun you and leave you open to a leap attack.
Phase 2: The Pustule Monstrosity
After sustaining enough damage, Victor undergoes a grotesque transformation into a massive, immobile wall of flesh and eyes. This phase is a "DPS check"—you need to hit specific targets quickly.
Where to Shoot:
The Glowing Pustules: Several yellow/orange pustules will appear on his head, chest, and arms. Destroying all of them is the only way to expose his core.
The Base Growths: Periodically, a cluster of growths will appear at his base. Use Stacked Grenades or an automatic weapon (like the LE 5) to clear these quickly, or they will spawn "Spiderlings" that interrupt your aim.
The Killing Blow:
Once all pustules are popped, Victor will slump forward. A QTE prompt will appear. Sprint toward his chest and interact to drive your Hatchet into his core, ending the fight.
Expert Insight: The "Infinite RPG" Shortcut
While veteran players will want to beat Victor with skill, those aiming for the "S+ Rank" or the "Insanity Difficulty" trophy should know about the CP Shop Shortcut.
Pro Tip: If you have already completed one playthrough and earned 100,000 CP, buy the Infinite Rocket Launcher. In Resident Evil Requiem, the RPG is a "Phase Skipper." One hit will instantly trigger the transition to Phase 2, and one hit to the pustule cluster in Phase 2 will skip the entire "Popping" mechanic, leading directly to the final QTE.
Essential Gear Checklist
Before riding the final elevator in the ARK facility, ensure your inventory looks like this:
Weapon: MSBG 500 Shotgun (Upgraded Fire Rate).
Ammo: At least 30 Shotgun Shells and 2 Stacked Grenades.
Healing: 3 First Aid Sprays (Victor’s ground pound deals massive splash damage).
Key Item: Ensure Leon's Hatchet is at 100% Durability; you cannot perform the final execution if it breaks during a parry.
A Tale of Two Endings
Remember, if you chose to "Destroy Elpis," you will skip this boss fight entirely. However, doing so results in the "Bad Ending" where Leon perishes and you receive no trophies. For the true resolution and the post-credits teaser for Resident Evil 10, you must release Elpis and face Gideon.
