Darkhaven Crafting Overhaul: New Runewords, Puzzle Box Recipes, and Singleplayer UI Changes.
Monday, March 16, 2026Darkhaven Demo Patch 0.0.23609: New Secret Levels, Runewords, and Singleplayer Overhauls
The latest update for the Darkhaven demo has arrived, and while the team at Darkhaven HQ may have been busy at GDC, they’ve managed to pack a surprising amount of mechanical depth into Patch 0.0.23609. From a mysterious new endgame challenge to a fundamental shift in how singleplayer progression works, there is plenty for ARPG fans to sink their teeth into.

The Hunt for the "Secret" Shark Level
The headline of this patch is undoubtedly the addition of a new "secret" shark level. While the developers have officially spoiled its existence, the method to access it remains a mystery.
To sweeten the pot, the team is running a community contest: the first 50 players to record themselves finding and entering the secret level and post it to the official Discord will have a shark named after them in-game.
Singleplayer & World Persistence
A significant structural change has come to the singleplayer experience. Players can now manage multiple characters and worlds independently.
Character/World Selection: You can now bring a specific character into different worlds.
Blue Highlighting: The UI now tracks your progress by highlighting the last world played by a character in blue.
WARNING: This patch does not yet support versionable world saves. If you update now, your current world state will be wiped. If you are in the middle of a run you want to finish, stay on the old version until you're done.
Expanded Crafting: Runewords & Puzzle Box Recipes
For the theory-crafters and loot hunters, 0.0.23609 massively expands the utility of the Puzzle Box and socketed gear.
New Runewords
The library of Runewords has seen a major expansion, including high-tier 5 and 6-socket options:
Blood of Lambs (3-Socket Dagger):
elm | bat | ashTender are Their Eyes (4-Socket Dagger):

Puzzle Box Utility
Several new recipes have been added to help you refine your gear, including a highly anticipated Fire Imbue:
Add Socket: Item (no sockets) +
elmrune.Fire Imbue: Common item (>=1 socket) + Heart (Bogie Feral/Skeleton Mage/Ember Ghoul) + Cracked Ruby.
Rerolling: New recipes allow for rerolling Magic and Rare Amulets, Rings, Flasks, and Weapons using varying tiers of Gems and Bat runes.
Mechanical Tweaks & Quality of Life
Beyond the loot, the core "feel" of the game is being polished:
Pick Axe Logic: Your regular attack is now separate from the "dig" action. Attacks will only destroy terrain directly in front of you, preventing accidental landscaping during combat.
Difficulty Shift: "Normal" difficulty has been rebranded as "Veteran," better reflecting the challenge level the developers are aiming for.
Necropolis Update: A new "bury/unbury" system has been implemented. Waystones in the Necropolis can now be buried by shadows, requiring players to literally dig them back up to reactivate them.
Vendor Restocks: Economy buffs have arrived; vendors now restock every 4 hours instead of once per day.
Multiplayer Stability
For those playing with friends, the reconnection protocol has been improved to handle dropped connections more gracefully. Additionally, a new fail-safe has been added for Synchronization errors; the game will now write diagnostic data to your Logs folder, making it much easier to report and fix game-breaking desyncs.
Whether you're hunting for the Shark Level or trying to roll the perfect 6-socket staff, Patch 0.0.23609 moves Darkhaven one step closer to the deep, mechanical ARPG experience fans are looking for.
