Talking Tech visits MSI headquarters in Taipei ahead of Computex 2026 to go hands‑on with the new Claw 8 EX AI+ gaming handheld powered by Intel Arc G‑Series processors derived from Panther Lake. MSI Product Manager Joseph Shih walks us through the engineering challenges behind building a more powerful handheld without sacrificing ergonomics, battery life, or thermal performance. The Claw 8 EX AI+ features a redesigned thermal system with larger heat pipes and upgraded fans to support higher performance. MSI rearchitected the internal layout, including moving DRAM to the back side of the motherboard, to improve airflow, maintain comfortable weight distribution, and reduce the thickness of the chassis. Ergonomic upgrades improve the triggers, D-pad, and Hall-effect joysticks for better precision and durability. And when you’re not gaming, dual Thunderbolt ports make it easy to dock the device with a full desktop setup.
