WoW Forever Beta XP Too Fast Debate Dungeon Nerfs and Sep 22 Tuning [2026]

By Indie Kings | September 21, 2026

Updated September 21, 2026: Forever beta leveling feels too fast for some testers at 5 hours to level 14, while others call it Classic-paced with smoother zone handoffs, per Blizzard official forum threads. Dungeon mob XP at 20 per kill reads nerfed with dungeon quests covering about 2 levels, and class tuning lands September 22.

The too-fast case

Per Blizzard Forever forums September 19, tester lanc3rz3r0 reports 5 hours to level 14 with a 36 to 48 hour to 60 projection. Zones named are Valley of Trials and Deathknell starts, with 1 to 5 feeling good for 1.5 hours then a requested dramatic slowdown.

Per the same thread, the worry is pace cheapening the journey that Forever sells as the point. Too fast feels bad even if grinding to a halt feels worse, per the opener.

This is beta feedback, not a patch note. Numbers describe Week 1 with cap 20, not launch 1 to 60.

The Classic-paced counter

Per the same thread, Deatheater reports 5 hours to 15 as slower than Classic with 1.5 days to 20 including breaks, matching regular Classic time. Extra quests explain the impression of speed, per the reply.

Per reply from JustSomeNoob, Elwynn to Westfall handoffs land at 13 instead of 11 to 12 when doing every quest, taking extra time for a smoother entry. Beercules adds that world size plus no mount means running time is underestimated.

Per Deatheater paladin note, about 15 extra Tirisfal quests push exits near halfway to 15. Smoother Silverpine entry follows.

Dungeon XP versus quest XP

Per Deatheater in the same thread, dungeon quests give about 2 levels to make up for nerfed dungeon mob XP. Mob figure cited is 20 XP per kill, called ridiculously small with a tweak request.

Design read: dungeons pay through quests once, not farmable mob grinding. That pushes players back to the 1,000 plus new outdoor quests plus SoD quest returns.

Our Thanes 13 to 18 and Ruins 15 to 20 drafts hold the Week 1 dungeon levels. Run each for quests first, repeats later only if tuning shifts.

  • Quests: Main XP engine, boosted by new plus returning chains.
  • Dungeon mobs: Nerfed per tester reports, farm value low.
  • Dungeon quests: About 2 levels, one-time payoff.

What tuning could change

Per Warcraft Tavern Forever hub, class tuning arrives September 22. Kill speed changes move XP per hour even if XP tables stay fixed.

Per Tavern, known-issues plus crash and lag fixes land in the same window. Faster kills plus fewer disconnects both raise effective pace without touching XP numbers.

Watch September 22 notes for XP table lines specifically. No XP change is confirmed at draft time.
