Updated September 22, 2026: Forty scattered books turn into neck plus ring rewards for every class through faction libraries, per Sponge at Warcraft Tavern on September 21. Ten books pay Friend of the Library neck picks, twenty pay Greater Friend ring picks, and Mages add a Research profession with a 1-hour Study cooldown.

The two turn-in quests
Per Tavern, the SoD book scatter returns with a cross-faction twist: all players collect and turn in at their faction is library instead of Mages-only Rune hunts. Community discovery on beta, not a Blizzard post, per the framing.
Per Tavern with WarcraftDB links, 10 books complete Friend of the Library for a neck pick between Scholarly Pendant and Erudite is Amulet. Twenty books complete Greater Friend of the Library for a ring pick between Field Researcher is Loop and Philanthropist is Ring.
Per Tavern, rewards beyond 20 books are unknown. Bank extras until the next beta note clarifies.

Mage Research bonus
Per Tavern, Mages completing the task learn the Research profession with a Study ability that spends Light Feathers to make spell scrolls on a 1-hour cooldown. Profession, not a Rune handout, which fits the all-class turn-in design.
Per Tavern comments, the profession currently vanishes after relog with multiple Mage reports, and the author confirms the bug. Expect a fix before it matters for launch mains.
