By Indie Kings | September 22, 2026

Updated September 22, 2026: WoW Forever ships four rulesets with Normal, PVP and Roleplay at launch plus Hardcore after launch, per TweakTown relaying Blizzard social-system notes. Hardcore deaths transfer to other rulesets including PVP, and PVP pledges lock to one faction. This updates our queues draft realmless framing with the official set.

The four rulesets

Per TweakTown on September 21 via Blizzard, the realmless design resolves into Normal, PVP, Roleplay plus post-launch Hardcore. No realm lists exist, per our queues draft, and now the four buckets have names.

Per the report, beta popularity surprised even Blizzard with clarifications timed for the November 4 launch. Rulesets are the congestion answer: fewer pools by design, per our queues analysis.

Our timeline draft holds the dates around this: invites October 20, names October 27, launch November 4, Hardcore winter.

Hardcore transfers

Per the report, Hardcore deaths transfer to other rulesets including PVP. Death ends the Hardcore run without ending the character, which softens the mode versus classic hardcore permadeath.

Tavern is Legacy-hardcore split note pairs here: Legacy rewards stay separate on Hardcore rulesets. Pick the ruleset for the economy you want to keep.

Winter window per our timeline draft gives months to finish a first launch character before risking Hardcore.

RoleplayRP rules on shared tech
Hardcore post-launchDeath transfers out, winter window

PVP pledge lock

Per the report, PVP players pledge Alliance or Horde with no both-factions characters. Spy and cross-faction bank alt games end at the pledge screen.

Economy reads follow: single-faction pledges concentrate markets and guild pools per side. Our gold-buyer draft enforcement lands harder in thinner markets.

Roleplayers get shared tech with social rules layered. Rulesets are policy plus population, not separate builds.

  • Normal: Broadest pools, default pick.
  • PVP: One faction, focused markets.
  • RP: Social rules, shared tech.

Which to pick

Launch on Normal for queues plus economy depth, reroll PVP once pledges settle, save Hardcore for winter with a farmed launch main behind you. RP for named communities from day one.

Names reserve October 27 per our timeline draft. Claim across intended rulesets early since first-come rules apply.
