How nxnative works
Nxnative works because Nintendo Switch and Apple Silicon both use ARM64 chips, so the project translates the Switch game's graphics instructions to Apple Metal API to run on macOS and iOS. YouTuber Andrew Tsai showed the tech on a base M1 MacBook Air with 8 GB RAM, and Monster Hunter Rise runs a locked 60 FPS on that hardware, per handheld.guru sourced to TweakTown.
Tested on an M1 MacBook Air
Four61 games are supported on iPhone and iPad so far. Titles observed to run natively include Unicorn Overlord and Dark Souls Remastered, with occasional vertex glitches. The new Square Enix release Final Fantasy Resonance runs but shows minor graphical flicker. Doom Eternal class heavy games did not boot in testing. Per Andrew Tsai, packaging Switch games as .ipa files for iPhone and iPad was the initial goal, and the standalone .app macOS bundle was added later as a step in Terminal.

FAQ
Does it need a Switch emulator?
No, nxnative runs Switch games natively through shared ARM64 architecture and Apple Metal API translation.
What hardware was demoed?
An M1 MacBook Air with 8 GB RAM.
How does Monster Hunter Rise run?
Locked 60 FPS on the tested M1.
Do heavy games work?
No, Doom Eternal class titles did not boot in testing.
