Level 30 and the new dungeons

Per CWF/Blizzard notes, the October 1 beta build raises the maximum player level to 30. That is the headline number of the patch, and it reshapes the whole leveling curve for the beta test cycle. The earlier September builds had capped progression at 25, where players gathered in Stranglethorn leveling zones and the first two new dungeons. Moving to 30 opens fresh quest breadth and gives the talent systems room for one more tier of choices before launch.

Three dungeon changes land alongside the cap. Excavation Site: Wetlands is a brand-new dungeon pitched at levels 26 to 31. It is a dug-out archaeological dig rather than a ruin, which fits the Wetlands goblin-industrial theme the zone already has. Razorfen Downs opens at level 25, which makes it the new spillover activity for players coming out of the 24 to 25 band who were stretching Scarlet Monastery farming. Uldaman opens at level 30, positioned as the capstone dungeon of the 30 stretch.

The earlier new dungeons, Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron, remain available. That matters for testing: you do not need to hop to a new character to check the resets there, and Blizzard's October 6 restart note already shows attention to dungeon quest items restocking in chests in those older builds. Uldaman replaces Uldaman's old Swampland adjacent status as the southern frame's big delve for the last tier.

Excavation Site: Wetlands deserves a closer look because it is a new content piece rather than a revived classic raid. Wetlands already got a thumbs-up from testers for being a classic low-30s farming zone, so a 26 to 31 dungeon there extends the leveling curve naturally. Per CWF/Blizzard notes, the team wants testers to flag quest item dropouts and chest restock bugs, since the October 6 restart notice shows they are still fixing missing chest restocks from earlier builds.

Class changes summary

All nine classes receive revisions in this build. The notes do not publish a full spell list; this is a summary table by class, followed by the Warrior conflict flag. Per CWF/Blizzard notes, the Druid loses Tiger's Fury and King of the Jungle, and gains Shifting Power with an Improved Shifting Power line while Swipe now scales with 3% of Attack Power, though its tooltip still needs a fix. Hunters get Sniper Shot at 45 yards extending the next three shots, Survival Deflection now giving 1 to 5% Parry, and Aggressive pet mode returns. Mage changes rename Hot Streak to Heating Up, Combustion is back to three charges, and Comprehension scrolls cannot be cast while moving.

WarlockSoul Harvest replaces Soul Harvesting and grants its stated mana regeneration. Hellfire can crit. Drain Soul interrupts when you cast another spell. Aggressive pet mode returns. No separate follow-up noted.
WarriorBonus crit Rage raised to 100%. Fury and Protection talent paths rebuilt. Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage and Toughness removed. Bloodthirst scales at 45% of Attack Power.October 2 follow-up. Conflicting notes on bonus crit Rage and Dual Wield Specialization. Check fresh client text.

Druid tuning leans Feral. Removing Tiger's Fury and King of the Jungle strips two classic rotational pieces and replaces them with Shifting Power, which is a sustained-energy design rather than a burst burst. Swipe scaling with 3% of Attack Power helps AoE but the tooltip lag is flagged, so testers should report whether damage matches the note.

Hunter Sniper Shot reaching 45 yards changes kiting math. Extending the next three shots means a single aimed crit can be chained into sustained single-target pressure. Survival Deflection at 1 to 5% Parry is a straight buff to a talent that was underused. Aggressive pet mode coming back is a quality-of-life note for raid testing where pet positioning matters.

Mage is being walked toward the Frost/Combustion hybrid profile that Classic resets sometimes swing away from. Renaming Hot Streak to Heating Up keeps a Frost spell chain but stops confusion. Cutting Combustion back to three charges keeps Burning after the three-charge change but lets Mages pencil more bursts in a fight. Comprehension scrolls no longer casting while moving is a mobility nerf, aimed at Mages who parachute-cast Healing Potions or buff scrolls on the run.

Paladin changes are all block values. Redoubt at 4 to 20% gives tanking Paladin a real scaling window, Holy Shield at 30% firms up block uptime, and Champion of the Light 20 to 60% spell damage conversion is a major buff to intellect stacking PvP builds. Stack them together and a tank Paladin gains a lot of effective damage mitigation per intellect point.

Priest changes are aimed at DoT uptime. Devouring Plague critting is a flat nerf removal (it used to not crit and feel like a damage tax). Shadow Word: Death no longer getting guaranteed Early Demise means you can actually use it as a finisher without the self-DoT hook. Inner Focus no longer raising periodic crit chance makes it a clean Haste/Resource tool again. Shadow Weaving applying reliably means testers can check DoT templates without random gaps.

Rogue Expose Armor no longer wiping combo points on a miss is a clarity fix. Setup now only awards points when the enemy you dodged or resisted is your current target, which means ranged setup chains on multiple targets need verification. Shaman and Warlock totems and souls are getting reach extensions, five minutes on Disease Cleansing Totem, Totemic Recall restoring mana, Ghost Wolf more visible, Soul Harvest replacing the older aura. Hellfire can crit now, Drain Soul interrupts when you cast another spell, and Aggressive pet mode returns on Warlock.

PvP, leveling and everyday systems

Systems changes affect how fast you earn gear and how forgiving the world is. Per CWF/Blizzard notes, the Honor cap rises from 15000 to 25000, and most PvP gear and upgrade token costs climb by about 50%. That means a wallet-grind ceiling raised in tandem with prices: more headroom to stockpile, but a more expensive upgrade graph. Players with older shopping lists should re-check vendor prices before spending the season-stored Honor.

Dungeon quest XP is trimmed. Blizzard cut the extra XP above normal quest values by 50%. To be precise, CWF's notes say it did not say every dungeon quest now awards half as much XP; it said the bonus portion was cut in half. So a dungeon quest with a 200 base XP and 100 bonus still pays 250, not 150. Testers should watch both dungeon vendors and quest turn-ins to confirm the base stays intact.

Camping gets three changes. Boosted Rest now has a clearer icon and tooltip. Camp features now say explicitly when effects are mutually exclusive, closing the old "I stacked two rest buffs and nothing stacked" question. Campfires no longer damage players below level 5, and they do less damage to players under 90% health. That is a safety buff to low-level starter camps and a mercy buff for fresh alts sitting in a forest.

Racials shift. Gnome Eureka! no longer benefits periodic effects, and channeled spells do not count as periodic. That clarification targets the "tick your own Eureka" combos. Undead Cannibalize cannot be used while immune to Physical damage, shutting down the old frozen undead cheese. Professions received some Love: Blacksmithing and Leatherworking dungeon-drop recipes that were intended are now available, crafted common and uncommon wands sell to vendors for 1 copper, starter zones have fewer Poor Copper Veins, and each creature can once again only be skinned once. Shenthul in Orgrimmar can now train Windshaper Skyborne.

Barbershops expand. Darnassus and Thunder Bluff now have barbers, and barber and guard directions are available at every barbershop. That is a quality-of-life item for faction swappers. Interface gets Cooldown Manager support for Rogues and racial abilities, duplicate spell-rank entries should be gone, gamepad bindings are now static, macros on gamepad bars can be moved, and the pet stable and compact group frames were revised for gamepad use. Switching to or from Gamepad UI mode resets the active Edit Mode layout to default, flagged as a known issue.

Warrior follow-up and conflicting notes

Blizzard posted a Warrior follow-up early October 2, after the main October 1 notes. Per CWF/Blizzard notes, the follow-up raises bonus crit Rage to 100%, rebuilds the Fury and Protection talent paths, removes Improved Cleave, Boundless Rage and Toughness, and sets Bloodthirst at 45% of Attack Power. That last number replaces the older low AP conversion that had warriors stacking Rage on ratios rather than on Hits.

However, the updated development notes still contain conflicting lines about bonus critical-strike Rage and Dual Wield Specialization. Blizzard's later Warrior post says the bonus Rage is 100%, but its hit-chance and talent-path wording also needs a fresh client check before you rely on a precise build. Keep the date of any saved talent plan in view, and treat the October 2 post as the tiebreaker for what is actually on the test client.

For testers, the practical move is to spec a fresh Fury build and read the tooltips on the character sheet. Old caches from September show Toughness and Boundless Rage in the Protection and Fury trees, so any guide PDF from before October 1 is stale. The cleanest workflow is to open the talent calculator in the client, hover the removed talents to confirm they are gone, and watch Bloodthirst's value at your current Attack Power.

Quests and respawns

Per CWF/Blizzard notes, escort quests can now start when your quest log holds 25 or more quests, certain quest items no longer drop more than once, and some quests that give items on start or come from items can no longer be shared. Certain quest rewards were recalibrated, but Blizzard did not name which. Players should flag anything that feels like half XP or a missing turn-in.

Across the map, creature and object respawn rates were sped up for many zones, including Hillsbrad Foothills, Ashenvale, Wetlands, Duskwood and Thousand Needles. Shimmer Ridge trolls in Dun Morogh respawn more evenly. Troggs in Loch Modan spawn slightly slower for the King's Lands quest. Westfall pocket watch in Furlbrow's Wardrobe respawns much slower, Foreman Thistlenettle and Collecting Memories undead respawn faster. Mulgore gets Kyle's Gone Missing. Redridge Mountains updates Blackrock Blockade and spawn rates. Duskwood fixes Tharnariun's Hope Plagued Lands. Dun Morogh trolls, Orgrimmar Smooth Boulder, dungeons: Wailing Caverns Serpentbloom Snakes despawn after a couple of minutes, Deadmines Destruction in Deadmines sorts under the dungeon, Ruins of Lordaeron A Frightened Request sorts under the dungeon and Bloodied Insignia no longer double-drops. Druid quests: bug with Great Cat Spirit and Great Windborne Cat Spirit loot fixed, High Order Skyborne can do Power Over Poison to learn Cure Poison.

Interface, items and known issues round out the build. Gear changes include Savory Whimsyfin Delight finally using Orc Ninja and Pirate looks, and BoE appearance items going Soulbound if you sell before collecting. Interface fixes include Cooldown Manager for Rogues, static gamepad bindings, fixed duplicate ranks. Known issues list still includes enemies parrying or blocking from behind at close range, some Eureka! spell gaps, Mage Research access problems, and a login service issue from early October 2 whose fix is still pending in the thread. An Australian tester social-features warning was marked fixed October 3 Europe/North America.

FAQ

What is the new WoW Forever level cap? 30. Excavation Site: Wetlands is pitched 26 to 31, Razorfen Downs from 25, Uldaman from 30.

Is Razorfen Downs a new dungeon? It opens at level 25 but it is not brand new. Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron remain available.

Which class revision is the most urgent to check? Warrior. The October 2 follow-up has conflicting lines on bonus crit Rage and Dual Wield Specialization. Read the fresh client text.

Did dungeon quest XP get cut in half? Only the bonus portion above normal quest values. Base quest XP should stay intact.

Why are campfires less dangerous? Players below level 5 take no damage, and players under 90% health take less. Zero risk at the fresh-alt stage.

Does Gnome Eureka! still work with DoTs? No. Periodic effects no longer benefit. Channeled spells are not classified as periodic.

Bottom line

WoW Forever October 1 beta is a wide net patch. Level cap 30, two revived dungeons you can see in the overworld, every class getting at least one touch, and the systems layer nudged up so PvP costs more and dungeon XP bonus shrinks. The Warrior October 2 follow-up is the one with conflicting notes, so treat it as a client-check item. Hall of Thanes and Ruins of Lordaeron stay open, so you can verify old test data without waiting for a fresh character. Watch the October 6 restart notice for chest restock fixes and the known-issues list for the Eureka! gaps.
