Unicorn Overlord director Takafumi Noma is stepping out on his own with a new fantasy IP. Monochrome Corporation and Good Smile Company announced IGNISPHERE and its first game, DAWNGAZER, an action RPG coming to PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam in 2028.

A new world: IGNISPHERE

As Monochrome celebrates its 15th anniversary, the studio has partnered with Good Smile Company to establish IGNISPHERE, a new original IP and fictional universe. The world is woven together by numerous nations and races, and IGNISPHERE is also the name of the game studio led by creator Takafumi Noma.

DAWNGAZER revealed

The first game set in IGNISPHERE is DAWNGAZER, an action RPG currently in joint development at Monochrome and Good Smile Company. It's targeting PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam in 2028, with English, Japanese, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese language support. A teaser trailer and music were released alongside the announcement, with composition and arrangement by Yoshimi Kudo and vocals by KOCHO, SAK., and Maki Takimoto.

The team

Takafumi Noma brings his experience as director of Unicorn Overlord, where he was involved in story, character design, and all aspects of development. For IGNISPHERE, he aims for the same hands-on approach to building a cohesive world. Music is handled by Yoshimi Kudo (Unicorn Overlord, Elden Ring), with KOCHO handling vocals and coordination.

Expanding beyond games

The IP won't stay limited to games. Good Smile Company will handle merchandising, with multiple light novel projects set in IGNISPHERE in development with Kadokawa's Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint.
